DEO Announces Deadline for Rebuild Florida Housing Repair and Replacement Program

Tallahassee, FL – Today, the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) announced that June 30, 2021, will be the final day for homeowners with remaining damage from Hurricane Michael to complete applications for the Rebuild Florida Housing Repair and Replacement Program. HarvestCall dedicates its work, departs

They travelled here from many Midwestern states to help families in North Florida’s Jackson and Calhoun counties as this area continues in its long-term recovery from Hurricane Michael. The Apostolic Christian Harvest Call team has been here three months, with 17 staying for the entire rebuilding mission and groups of 40 rotating in for a week at a time. Hurricane Michael’s toll in October 2018 included the Altha, Fla., home of the Rev. Charles and April Adkins and their three children, ages 7, 3 and 1. Charles Adkins pastors Hillcrest Baptist Church in Altha. The storm brought multiple trees down on their home, pushing it off its foundation and damaging the structure. Jackson County donates hurricane RV’s to Chipola Baptist Association

Jackson County Commissioners on Tuesday donated 20 RVs to the Chipola Baptist Association (CBA). The RVs were provided to the county by FEMA as temporary living quarters for people displaced by Hurricane Michael. CBA managed the program and when the FEMA/county agreement governing their use expired, FEMA subsequently turned the RVs over permanently to the county to dispose of as it wished. Vasheda Hobbs and her three daughters’ home was destroyed by Hurricane Michael. Initially, they were able to stay with family, then found a short-term rental, but struggled to pay the high rent. Another client suggested to Vasheda that she contact the North Florida Inland LTR, so she reached out. Months later, she was selected by a review committee as one of the recipients of a new home to be constructed by AC HarvestCall. The Salvation Army covered demolition and removal of the prior structure, Capital Area Community Action Agency assisted with materials, and Chipola Baptist Association helped with furniture. On Friday, March 12, the Hobbs […]

Nowling Family
